Falcon 50 Crash in Turkey: Libyan Chief of Staff Was on Board

On the evening of December 23, 2025, a Dassault Falcon 50 business jet crashed in Turkey after departing from Ankara. The crash has been confirmed by video footage circulating from the scene.

According to Turkey’s Ministry of Interior, the aircraft, bearing registration number 9H-DFJ, took off from Ankara Esenboğa Airport at 20:10 local time, bound for Tripoli. At 21:52, contact with the jet was lost. Shortly before the loss of communication, while flying over the Haymana area in Ankara province, the crew transmitted a distress message requesting an emergency landing. Subsequent attempts to re-establish contact were unsuccessful.

There were five people on board, including Libya’s Chief of the General Staff, General Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad. Earlier the same day, General al-Haddad had held meetings with senior Turkish military officials in Ankara.

Following the incident, airspace over Ankara was temporarily closed, indicating the activation of emergency security and search-and-rescue measures. Video recordings later published from the crash site show the aftermath of the incident, confirming that the aircraft did crash.

As of the time of publication, no official information has been released regarding casualties, survivors, or the cause of the crash. Turkish authorities stated that further updates will be provided as more details become available.
